When I was a freshman at Ohio State, the resident advisor on my dorm floor held a 'get acquainted' when we first moved in. He asked me what was different about being in OH vs WV. He was a smart-ass Cleveland guy looking for some stupid hillybilly response, but I answered him seriously: I said I wasn't used to seeing the sun for so long. That got some laughs, but I meant it.
At my parent's place in the Elk River valley, the sun wasn't visible until about 10am as it came up over the hilltop behind our house. Then it set again behind the hills on the opposite site of the valley in late afternoon (in the summer). Here in OH, all directions are compass points (north, south, east, west). In WV, directions were more vertical in nature -- up/down the river, up/down the hill, and the ever famous, up/down the hollar.
Oh, and curvy roads. I'm a motorcyclist, and you have to ride a couple of hours from my house to find a fun road. If I were home, the curves start at the end of the driveway...
