- The Pride of West Virginia, the Mountaineer Marching Band
- The New River Gorge
- Morgan Spurlock
- Traditional Music (see Johnny Staats)
- The West Virginia Mine War (becasue we fought back for a change)
- The Capitol Building (but not most of the people in it...)
- West Virginia Public Radio
- Mountain Stage New Song Festival

I love (and miss) my native state too. I would add to that list:
The scenic beauty enjoyed on a daily basis by those living at the foot of East River Mountain;
Our Lion in Winter, Senator Byrd, who is delightfully catty; and
A Kodak moment of my life, watching the best fireworks I've ever seen while standing on the grassy bank of the Kanawha River and listening to the West Virginia Symphony during the Sternwheel Regatta.
Man, I'm loving your first choice. I miss my band days and want to get back and do Alumni Band again next year ... at all costs!
